a snapshot, not a statement

Now

A snapshot, not a statement. This changes when I do — sometimes weekly, sometimes not for a season.

Making

  • This place. Building a home for poems that have been living in my iPhone Notes for years.
  • Sorting through the archive — some of it holds up, some of it was clearly a bad week.

Writing about

  • Softness and discernment, and the fact that they're not opposites.
  • Love, boundaries, and telling the difference between peaceful and boring.
  • Becoming — slowly, unglamorously, mostly in the car.

Noticing

  • Sunlight, water, trees. I keep going outside like it's a prescription.
  • How much ordinary beauty I miss when I'm moving fast.

Learning

  • Not to brace when things are calm. Peace isn't a setup.
  • That I don't have to inspect a good thing to make sure it's real.

This season

  • Late summer. Golden earlier every evening. Somewhere between the work I do and the work I'm made of.
  • Wanting more travel, more real food, more of the things worth rearranging a schedule for.
