She Rose

June 2025

They told me love would arrive when I least expect it,

like a doorbell ringing in the middle of a lonely evening.

But love didn't knock on my door,

It bursted right past it

Love bloomed like a sunflower.

Right within,

in the softest folds of my healing.

She wasn't some stranger passing by.

She was the smile that constantly crossed my face

The peace in my chest when I finally said "no" without guilt.

The way I dance alone,

not for anyone watching,

but because the music finally feels like home.

In the way that I treat myself on the daily,

and find tranquility in my inner dome.

I stopped searching for someone to fulfill what already existed within me

I looked in the mirror and remembered

that I've always been light,

just waiting to recognize my own reflection.

I didn't fall in love.

I became love.

In the way I mother,

in the way I pour into my dreams,

in how I tend to my boundaries

like wildflowers that won't be plucked.

She rose

not from romance

but from reverence.

for myself,

for the God within me,

for the girl I used to be and the woman I'm becoming.

Love didn't find me.

She returned home.

So now if I do find love in another,

My spirit will reflect the fulfillment I already hold inside

while being on my own.
